HOW TO TRANSFER THE OWNERSHIP OF A DOGThere are instances in which the Registration Certificate of a dog, which includes the transfer of ownership form on the back, is misplaced or lost. In such cases, the Form 3 must be used for the transfer of ownership to be recorded. The new owner must obtain the signature of the present registered owner for the transfer to be completed.:
1. Download the Change of Ownership (Transfer) (Form 3) from the Forms page on this website. 2. Complete the Form 3 - Change of Ownership of a Dog (transfer) Form by filling in all the details required, I.D cards and telephone numbers of both the present owner and the new owner of the dog/bitch. Make sure that all signatures and I.D Card numbers are included, otherwise the application cannot be processed. Please remember to complete all sections of form and return it to the MNCF. How to complete the Transfer of Ownership Form:
Section 1: In this section, insert the breed of the dog/bitch. Section 2: In this section, insert the name of the dog/bitch. The Affix/kennel name of the breeder must be included before the name of the dog/bitch. Section 3: In this section, insert the registration number of the dog if known. Section 4: In this section, insert the full details of the present registered owner on whose name the dog/bitch is currently registered. Make sure to insert all the details, address in Section 5, including I.D Card number (Section 6), Telephone/Mobile numbers and email address. Section 7. In this section, signature of the present registered owner on whose name the dog/bitch is currently registered. Important that the signature is included as otherwise the transfer will not be processed. Section 8: In this section, the date of the transfer must be inserted. Section 9: In this section, the details of the new owner on whose name the dog/bitch will be transferred to must be inserted here. Important to insert all details, including I.D Card and Telephone number. New owner is also to sign in this section (x). Section 10: This section is used in the unlikely situation whereas the current registered owner cannot be found for some reason. The signature of the new owner is required here, together with an explanation indicating the reasons why the registered owner cannot be found. Signature of the new owner in this section confirms the declaration and responsibilities explained in this section. Section 11: Mark this box if a 3 generation Pedigree is required. Once you have the form filled including all required signatures, present the form at the office of the MNCF, at 5, Camelia Street, Hamrun (see opening times and directions by clicking here), or send by post to: The Maltese National Canine Federation, 5, Camelia Street, Hamrun. HMR1700, together with a cheque payable to MNCF. (Please DO NOT send by registered post as there will be no one at the office during the day to sign for registered mail, and therefore registered mail will eventually be returned to the sender, undelivered). Postal Orders are not accepted. Fees are: Transfer only: €15.00 (with this you will get a new Registration Certificate) Transfer and 3 Generation Pedigree: €25.00 (with this you will get the registration certificate and a 3 generation pedigree, containing the family tree of the dog going back 3 generations). Postage: €2.00 (please include this if you wish to receive the documents by post instead of collecting personally from the office). Once the form is received or handed over to the MNCF, this will normally be processed and delivered/ready for collection within 7 days.
